Our Story

Rongoānuku is inspired by our connection to Papatuānuku (Earth Mother) and rongoā, our traditional Māori healing system.

Our mission is to make it easy for everyone to access rongoā and incorporate it into their modern lives.  Holistic health and well-being are important to us.

Our philosophy is to promote self-care through simple wellness practices and to honour oneself with aroha (love) in whatever form that takes.

We make contemporary products with rongoā but use the same tikanga and care as traditional rong.  Rongoānuku are committed to supporting the revitalisation of traditional knowledge and practices.

It was through my own journey of prioritising my hauora (wellbeing), that these products were imagined and created.  They are designed for slow care - thoughtfully crafted to inspire you to take moments in time for yourself.

About the Founder

Kia ora

Ko Ani Nuku toku ingoa.

He uri ahau no Ngati Awa, Ngati Pukeko, Ngai Tuhoe me Nga Puhi.

I’m a rongoä, romiromi and reiki enthusiast based in Whakatane, Aotearoa (NZ).  I draw inspiration from matauranga Maori and traditional practices in creating my products.

In all honesty, I was never a fan of the traditional rongoä my mother made and although I knew it was good for me, I would avoid drinking any of her concoctions.

My journey into rongoä was inspired by my late mother who always had a remedy on hand and opened my eyes to the world of healing.  She still plays a big part in some of the imaginative and fun ideas I come up with.

When I’m not brewing up concoctions, I’m with my whanau (family), my dogs and soaking up any opportunities to learn in whatever form that takes.
